Chile lends its support to the Barcelona World Race

The Chilean Navy and the Fundación Navegación Oceánica Barcelona (FNOB) sign an agreement to increase collaboration with the regatta as the boats sail through Chilean waters, especially at the legendary Cape Horn. The Chilean sea Foundation Mar de Chile and the FNOB agree to join forces to promote the Barcelona World Race Educational Programme. The participation of Chilean skipper José Muñoz racing alongside Spain's Guillermo Altadill on Neutrogena has served as encouragement for the parties to sign these agreements.

The Barcelona World Race sets an international standard

Following in the footsteps of London 2012 and Roland Garros, the FNOB, organisers of the round the world regatta, have been given UNE-ISO 20121:2013 certification, the benchmark in certification of sustainable event management. The Barcelona World Race is the first international regatta to be awarded this seal of recognition. The ISO 20121, awarded by Applus+, is a brand new achievement in terms of sustainability for the FNOB and it can be added to the certificates for Quality, the Environment and Health and Safety in the Workplace obtained in 2012.

The Barcelona Foundation for Ocean Sailing (FNOB) and the University of Barcelona launch the Barcelona World Race Ocean Campus

The free online courses start in November. This is a pioneering initiative in the world of ocean sailing and the first MOOC (Massive Online Open Course) to be launched by the University of Barcelona. The Campus will develop five free massive online open courses based on science, the humanities and technology, built around the competition, the only two-crew, non-stop, round the world regatta. The first courses will be launched using the Instructure Canvas platform, with over 4 million users worldwide. The new platform will be presented on the 30th of September at the Barcelona World Race Interpretation Centre.
